Brand Intelligence Glossary
The terms you will meet in a brandunder report, defined in plain language.
- AEO (answer engine optimization)
- Structuring content so search and AI systems can extract a direct, useful answer from it without reconstructing the meaning. AEO guide
- AI understandability
- How well AI systems can read, define and answer questions about a brand from its public presence. A readiness measure, not a measure of how often assistants mention the brand. AI visibility guide
- Brand clarity
- How quickly a newcomer understands who a company is, what it offers, who it is for and why it matters. Brand clarity guide
- Brand consistency
- Whether the name, story, category, tone and facts match across pages, profiles and sources. Consistency guide
- Brand Understanding
- One of brandunder's three dimensions: how clearly the brand's identity, category, offering, audience, value and difference can be understood.
- brandunder score
- The overall score from 0 to 100, built from Brand Understanding, Digital Expression and Search & AI Readiness. Shown with five hearts, a status and a confidence level. Understanding scores
- Citation potential
- How likely a brand's content is to be quoted: specific facts, named experts, topical depth and outside confirmation.
- Confidence
- How strongly the evidence supports a conclusion: High, Medium, Low or Unknown. Uncertain evidence weighs less; it never counts as failure. Understanding confidence
- Content architecture
- How a site's content is organized into connected topics that cover the visitor journey. Content architecture guide
- Conversion path clarity
- Whether an interested visitor can see and take the next step. brandunder measures this readiness; it does not estimate conversion rates.
- Digital Expression
- One of brandunder's three dimensions: how effectively the brand expresses itself through its website, from clarity and structure to trust and the way in.
- Entity
- A clearly defined thing that machines can identify, such as a company with one name, one definition and consistent facts.
- Evidence
- The exact words, code or source a conclusion is based on. Every brandunder finding is tied to its evidence. Understanding evidence
- Explicit signal
- Information the brand states directly, such as a headline that names the category.
- GEO (generative engine optimization)
- Making a brand clear and citable for generative AI systems: a clear entity, quotable facts, topical depth and outside confirmation. GEO guide
- Inferred signal
- Information that several independent signals point to, even though no single sentence states it. brandunder never infers from a single weak signal.
- Key opportunity
- One of at most three changes most likely to make the brand more clearly understood, ranked by impact, confidence, reach and effort.
- Maturity
- An estimate of how established a brand is: emerging, growing, established, global or institutional. Context for reading results; it never raises or lowers a score.
- Positioning
- The category a company belongs to, the audience it serves and why it differs from alternatives. Positioning guide
- Re-analysis
- Analyzing the same website again after changes, to see what changed and how the scores moved. The score is described as changing following the detected changes, never as caused by one of them. Re-analysis
- Scope
- How far a finding reaches: a page, the whole site, the domain, the entity, the brand or outside sources. A homepage absence is never treated as a brand absence.
- Search & AI Readiness
- One of brandunder's three dimensions: how understandable and discoverable the brand is to search engines and AI systems.
- Status
- The plain-language reading of a score: Exceptional, Strong, Healthy, Opportunity, Significant opportunity or Unknown.
- Unknown
- What the evidence cannot responsibly support. Unknown is shown as unknown, never as a low score.
